Jungle Cloth

JUNGLE CLOTH

by Mary Dixon

Worsted weight cotton
Size 7 needles

Cast on 37 stitches (for a cloth about 8 1/2 inches square).

Knit 5 rows.

Begin pattern, keeping 3 stitches each side in garter stitch for border. Note: Garter stitch border is not included in the pattern below.

Row 1: (right side): *K3, P1*, repeat from *, end K3.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K1, *P1, K3*, repeat from *, end P1, K1.
Row 4: Purl

Repeat these four rows till cloth measures about 8 inches (or 3/4 inch shorter than square), ending by working either Row 1 or Row 3.

Knit 5 rows. Bind off.

If you like a larger cloth, just add stitches in multiples of 4. Then work the four-row repeat till your cloth is about 3/4 inch short of being square.
