Margie's Diamond Drops Cloth

Margie's Diamond Drops

Worsted Weight yarn

Size 7 needles

Cast on 38 stitches and knit 5 rows.

Begin stitch pattern below, keeping 3 stitches at each edge in garter (not reflected in pattern stitch below).

Row 1 (right side): Knit

Row 2: P1, *YO, P2, pass YO over purl sts, P2; rep from * to last 3 sts, YO, P2, pass YO over purl sts, P1.

Row 3: Knit

Row 4: P3, *YO, P2, pass YO over purl sts, P2; rep from * to last st, P1.

Repeat these 4 rows until almost square. Then knit 5 rows and bind off.

Note: This makes a smallish cloth (about 8.5 inches or a bit less). If you like a larger cloth, add on stitches in multiples of 4. You can also do the border with 4 stitches garter stitch rather than the 3, but remember to add two more stitches to the cast on if you do that.

EASY PEASY LACY RACY CLOTH

EASY PEASY LACY RACY CLOTH

Worsted weight cotton yarn

Size 7 needles (or whatever you like for cloths)

Cast on an odd number of stitches. (I used 39 for the test knit, but it was a bit larger than I like.)

Knit 3 rows. Then begin pattern.

Rows 1 and 2: K3, *YO, K2 tog*, repeat across row, end with K2

Rows 3 and 4: Knit across

Repeat these 4 rows till almost square.

Knit 3 rows and bind off.

There you go. It is easy peasy and makes a lacy cloth in a racy amount of time.

Gumdrop Gala Cloth

GUMDROP GALA Cloth

worsted weight cotton yarn
size 7 needles (or size you like for cloths)

The pattern is a multiple of 2 sts plus one.

Keep 3 sts at each edge in garter stitch. I recommend putting stitch markers as these stitches are not written into the pattern.

Cast on 39 sts.

Rows 1 - 3 : Knit across
Row 4: K1, *P2 tog, YO; repeat from * across row to last 2 sts, then P1, K1
Rows 5 - 7: Knit
Row 8: Purl

Repeat rows 1-8 till you are about 1 1/2 inches from being square.

Then work Rows 1-4.
Knit 6 rows.
Bind Off.

(I worked the pattern rows 6 times; then did rows 1-4 and the 6 garter rows. This made a 9-inch square cloth for me.) Pattern can be easily adjusted.

Happy Knitting!

Marvelous Mesh Cloth

MARVELOUS MESH CLOTH

by Mary Dixon

I used S&C cotton and #7 needles.

Cast on 38 stitches.

Garter stitch for 4 rows.

Continue as below, keeping 3 stitches each edge in garter stitch for border.

Row 1 (RS): Purl
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: K2, *sl 1 wyib, k1; repeat from *.
Row 4: *K1, sl 1 wyif; repeat from *, end k2.
Row 5: K1, *yo, k2 tog; repeat from *, end k1.
Row 6: Purl

I did 9 repeats of Rows 1-6.

Garter stitch for 6 rows.
Bind off.

This made a cloth approx. 8 1/2 inches square. You can vary the size by adding stitches or subtracting stitches as long as you have an even number of stitches.
