I recommend putting stitch  markers as these stitches are not written into the pattern.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cast on 39 sts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Rows 1 - 3 :  Knit across&lt;br /&gt;Row 4:   K1, *P2 tog, YO; repeat from * across row to last 2 sts, then P1, K1&lt;br /&gt;Rows 5 - 7:  Knit&lt;br /&gt;Row 8:  Purl&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Repeat rows 1-8 till you are about 1 1/2 inches from being square. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Then work Rows 1-4.&lt;br /&gt;Knit 6 rows.&lt;br /&gt;Bind Off.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(I worked the pattern rows 6 times; then did rows 1-4 and the 6 garter rows.  This made a 9-inch square cloth for me.)
